Acadiana Barrel Racing Association (ABRA) was formed in 1988 to provide honest and equally classed barrel racing and other similar equine competitions for the benefit of equine enthusiasts in the Acadiana region of Louisiana. We hold 12 regular shows per year, with qualified finalists advancing to the finals at the end of each calendar year. In addition, ABRA also hosts the Bayou Classic each year - an added money open barrel race, as a fundraiser for year-end awards.
Our Mission:
1) To provide honest and equally classed Barrel Racing and other similar equine competitions for the benefit of equine enthusiasts in the Acadiana Region of Louisiana.
2) To promote children and young adults involvement in various equine activities.
3) To promote the highest standard of conduct and sportsmanship at the various contests by setting standards which will meet these needs.
Awards vary based on member input, but ABRA has traditionally awarded all Finalists that qualify for the year-end Finals as well as the top 5 in each class. Take a look at our latest finals information for information on choices offered most recently.
